Overview

Partnering with a renowned jewelry designer to elevate their online store and digital web presence

Sidney Garber, the son of a watch repairman, began what would become his fine jewelry house in Chicago in 1946. As a little girl, Brooke joined her father in the Sidney Garber store, standing behind the counter, watching him work. She traveled with him for years to the ateliers in Paris and Milan, meeting with the most esteemed craftsmen and designers. In 2008, Brooke inherited the business and opened an additional store in New York. As Sidney Garber's owner and creative director, she marries this heritage of quality and excellence with her modern eye, personal style, and sense of ease.

Challenge

How do you create an “in-store” jewelry buying experience, online?

Sidney Garber offers some of the most elegant and beautiful handmade jewelry in the world. Many of their pieces are one of a kind. Something that you would just have to see in person to fully understand the quality, craftsmanship, and elegance of each design. Our challenge was simple; can you create an online experience that comes as close to what it might feel like if you were to visit one of their extraordinary boutiques in person?

Solution

Designing an elegant customer experience that elevates the products while telling the story of this amazing company

The solution was discovered by first listening to Brooke tell her story of how the business came to life. Understanding how much thought, care, and attention goes into every piece and beginning to see just who their ideal customer was and what they wanted. We then worked with the Sidney Garber team to define core pillars that would help guide the creative process. The value of creating an ambience as the customer browses, the importance of elevating each product and product category, and the need to use motion and animation to create a unique browsing experience.
